This carefully crafted itinerary immerses you in the beauty of the Virunga Conservation Area, featuring two of its most spectacular volcanoes: Mount Karisimbi and Mount Muhabura.

Day 1: Transfer to Musanze

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or your Kigali hotel, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver guide. Enjoy a scenic 2 to 3-hour drive to Musanze, where you can take in the picturesque Rwandan countryside. A morning flight is recommended to make the most of your day. Your accommodation for the night will be at your choice of • Fatima Hotel

Day 2: Hiking Mount Karisimbi

 After a hearty breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing. 

Prepare for a challenging yet rewarding 2-day hike up Mount Karisimbi, the highest of the Virunga volcanoes at 4,507 meters. The ascent typically takes 6 to 8 hours, leading to a camping site at 3,700 meters where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Summit and Descend Mount Karisimbi

Rise early to complete your ascent to the summit of Mount Karisimbi. 

Enjoy breathtaking vistas, including views of the crater lake and the surrounding Virunga volcanoes. After savoring the summit experience, descend to Musanze. Spend a leisurely evening reflecting on your adventure and relax at your hotel

Day 4: Hiking Mount Bisoke 

Following breakfast, return to the park headquarters for a briefing on your hike up Mount Bisoke, standing at 3,700 meters. 

This full-day hike, lasting 6 to 8 hours, is less strenuous but equally rewarding, offering views of the picturesque crater lake at the summit. Return to Musanze for another relaxing evening.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali and Kigali Memorial Visit 

Enjoy a final breakfast before transferring back to Kigali. After lunch, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a poignant tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide. This visit offers a moving insight into Rwanda’s history and resilience. Conclude your journey with a transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

To confirm a booking, a deposit of 70% of the total cost of the tour is required. And the balance of 30% has to be paid 30 days before the tour start date. If the booking is being confirmed within 30 days to the tour start date, then the total tour cost should be paid in full.

Any cancellation must be done via the email of Thinko Travel and Tourism, and the cancellations for paid bookings will be refunded less the cancellation fees for administration cost and other costs as below: You understand and accept when booking through us that you are bound by our supplier’s terms and conditions and accordingly any policies they may have on cancellation charges. 

 • Cancellation fee of 30% if the tour is cancelled within 30 days and above prior to the arrival date;

 • Cancellation fee of 50% if the tour is cancelled between 16 and 30 days prior to the arrival date; 

• Cancellation fee of 100% if the tour is cancelled within 15 days and less prior to the arrival date The refund will be done to the same account and using the same mode which was used for the payments. Note that there is no refund in the event of a no show for the existing reservations.
